You can switch to easy mode by entering the pipe room where you select your play file and pressing select.
A little known secret is that you can actually control the demo that appears if you leave the title screen open. Hold down ↑, SELECT and B (in that order) at the title screen and when the screen changes you will be controlling Mario, however the game will freeze after 60 seconds and you will have to restart.
If you run out of lives hold down A and the press START.
After completing the game once the mushroom on the title screen will be replaced by Mario’s head indicating that a harder version of the game has been unlocked which features many tougher enemies.
Complete the game twice without turning off the power to make the level select appear. This is much easier to do on the 3DS Virtual Console version as you can save your progress.
On world 2-3, the level where Mario pilots a submarine you will find a plethora of coins spelling out Mario’s name and a 1-up heart in the wall afterwards. Grab as many coins as you can as well as the 1-up and then die when you reach the octopus enemy. You should be respawned just before the coins and can repeat the process as many times as you want.

A special ‘Fancy Pattern’ Vivillon is to be distributed in Pokémon X & Y to mark the 100 millionth trade made using the Global Trade Station. So far around 90 million Pokémon have been traded using the service and with the popularity of the game it surely won’t be long until the 100 million goal is reached.
The Pokémon Company released the following statement about the distribution event:
Vivillon is a unique Pokémon in that the patterns and colours on its wings typically vary based on the real-world region in which a player lives. Because of this characteristic, players around the world have been exchanging Vivillon via the GTS to collect all of the regional patterns.
This newly discovered Vivillon breaks with that tradition: it will become available to Pokémon fans across the globe once the 100 millionth Pokémon is traded via the GTS. When this enormous milestone is reached, a special distribution event will take place, enabling all players of Pokémon X or Pokémon Y to receive the Fancy Pattern Vivillon wherever they are in the world!
The Fancy Pattern Vivillon will know the moves Gust, Light Screen, Struggle Bug and Hold Hands. You can see some images of the Vivillon in action below.

Moon Chronicles, an enhanced remake of Renegade Kid’s DS first-person shooter game Moon, is set to hit the 3DS eshop on 15 May in North America. The game will be released in episodic installments, with episode 1 being the largest and most expensive of the four part “season”, reportedly clocking in at 4 hours long and priced at $8.99.
The following episodes will be made available as DLC for $1.99 each and will have about 2 hours worth of gameplay per episode.
A full summary of Episode 1’s content has also been released by Renegade Kid:
Episode 1: One Small Step
Major Kane’s investigation quickly spirals into a desperate search for lost team members and the discovery of troubling evidence.
Bonus Mission: Tsukigami’s VR Training
Created by Captain Tsukigami to emulate the behaviors of alien hostiles; this mission helps you perfect your skills, while providing some intense first-person shooter action.
A second season is also planned for 2015 with ‘all-new story content’. Meanwhile Jools Watsham, co-founder of Renegade Kid, has stated that the first season will not be released in Europe until all episodes are finished.
Now that Episode 1 is approved, we’re working hard to finish the remaining episodes (2, 3, and 4) in one focused effort. Our plan is to submit the game to NOE when we have all episodes completed, so a confident release plan for Europe can be scheduled.
