Atari Set to Revive Two Classic Horror Franchises
Atari has announced that it is bringing new versions of Alone in the Dark and Haunted House to PC this Autumn. No further details have been revealed at this time other than that the Alone in the Dark game will have the subtitle ‘Illumination’. From the official websites of each title it seems that Dreampainters will be developing Haunted House while Pure is working on Alone in the Dark.
Both franchises have been dormant for several years – the last Alone in the Dark game was released to a poor reception back in 2008, while the Haunted House series, which dates back to 1982, had it’s last entry on PC, Wii and Xbox Live Arcade in 2010.
You can sign up for mailing updates at the Alone in the Dark: Illumination and Haunted House official websites and both games will be demonstrated live at PAX Prime which takes place in Seattle from August 29th to September 1st.
