Nintendo today revealed more details about its new range of NFC figurines for the Wii U. The toys and the NFC feature itself will collectively be known as ‘amiibo‘.

The first game to feature support for amiibo will be Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U. By entering your amiibo figure into battle you can level up its stats. Each amiibo figurine will have individual stats and customizable move sets. Figurines confirmed so far include Mario, Kirby, Yoshi, Pikachu, Peach, Donkey Kong, The Animal Crossing Villager, Link, Wii Fit Trainer and Samus.

Besides Smash Bros. other games that will support amiibo in the future include Mario Kart 8, and the newly announced trio Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Mario Party 10 and Yoshi’s Wooly World.
