Gamecube Controller Adapter Announced for Wii U

Nintendo Gamecube Controller Adapter, Wii U

Nintendo has announced a new peripheral for the Wii U – the Gamecube controller adapter. The adapter will allow players to plug in up to four Gamecube  controllers into the Wii U. Presumably Nintendo will also be producing new Gamecube controllers if the Super Smash Bros. logo embossed controller shown above is anything to go by.

The revelation of this desirable peripheral came at the end of a new trailer for the Super Smash Bros. invitational event to be held live at E3. This will come as great news to those who prefer the classic control scheme for Nintendo’s fighting series. It also opens up the possibility of Gamecube games coming to Wii U’s Virtual Console.
